Handling bounced leads

Last updated: May 4, 2026

Stamina handles bounced leads automatically. When an email bounces, the lead is immediately removed from the campaign and flagged to prevent any future emails being sent to that address — no manual action required.

How Stamina handles bounces

  • Hard bounce — The email address is permanently undeliverable (doesn't exist, invalid domain, or server permanently rejecting). The lead is removed from the campaign immediately and blocked from future sends.

  • Soft bounce — A temporary failure (full inbox, server timeout). Stamina retries a limited number of times before treating it as a hard bounce and removing the lead.

Adding bounced leads to the DNC list

For an extra layer of protection — ensuring a bounced address is never contacted again across any future campaign — you can add it to your Do Not Contact (DNC) list.

  1. Open the lead's record.

  2. Click Add to DNC.

  3. Confirm the action.

Leads on the DNC list are automatically excluded from all future campaign imports and enrichment runs.

Adding to DNC is recommended for any address that has hard bounced — it ensures the address can never re-enter your pipeline through a future list import or re-enrichment.

Monitoring bounce rates

Keep an eye on bounce rates in your campaign analytics. A rate above 2% typically signals a list quality issue — either the source data is outdated or unverified. Contact your GTM strategist if you're seeing consistently high bounce rates across campaigns.
